The Silence is Golden (Except for the Celebrations!): A Parent's Relief as Exams are Over
They did it! After months of tireless studying, countless practice papers, and enough snacks to fuel a small army, GCSEs and A-Levels are finally over. As the dust settles (or should we say confetti?), I can't help but let out a huge sigh of relief – a sigh that could probably be heard from the next county.
Being a parent/carer/sibling/grandparent during exam season is a marathon, not a sprint. It's a constant state of low-level anxiety, punctuated by bursts of full-blown panic as mock exams and past papers reveal knowledge gaps the size of the Mariana Trench. We cajole, comfort, and dispense endless cups of our teen's preference, all while trying to maintain a semblance of normality (and sanity) in the household.
But let me tell you, the sense of relief that washes over you once the last exam is done is unparalleled. It's like a weight has been lifted, a dark cloud has disappeared, and the world is suddenly filled with birdsong and sunshine (or maybe that's just the lack of teenage angst hanging in the air).
In our household its two down, one to go through the system! With the sun again shining here, I can't help but feel a bittersweet sense of achievement. This life chapter of endless revision timetables and tense exam mornings is suddenly behind us, and it's time to pause and celebrate how far we've all come.
If you want to mark the occasion with an end of exams gift, we've got you covered! Our 50% off sale runs to the end of June, offering the perfect opportunity to find a well-deserved treat. We've also launched a brand new End of Exams Gift Card, a thoughtful way to say "well done"
