Amethyst minimist pendant with words Elevate your style with Ojewellery

February is upon us with the birthstone Amethyst

For those born under the crisp winter skies of February, the amethyst is known as their birthstone, offering a captivating blend of beauty, history, and symbolism. This natural purple gemstone, a variety of quartz, isn't just stunning to behold, but also carries a rich legacy interwoven with mythology, royalty, and even astrology.

The name "amethyst" originates from the ancient Greek word "amethystos," meaning "not intoxicated." This aptly reflects one of the gemstone's earliest associations - protection from drunkenness.

Egyptians adorned themselves with amethyst, believing it promoted clarity and wisdom. Even Cleopatra, the legendary queen of Egypt, was said to favour the gemstone.

While amethyst is the traditional birthstone for February, it also holds significance for those born under the Aquarius zodiac sign (January 20th - February 18th). Known for their progressive thinking, originality, and humanitarian spirit, Aquarians are said to resonate with the amethyst's energy of intuition, creativity, and inner peace.

Our amethyst is natural untreated rich purple and mined in Africa.  We have pieces in both sterling silver and gold.  Its one of our largest and most popular collections with Earrings, Rings, Pendants, Bracelets, Brooches and Sets.
